About the role
The Dining Services Dishwasher performs a variety of dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitation tasks to maintain a high-quality, sanitary, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand diet cards, special diet menus, and other food service procedures.
- Follow written instructions.
- Maintain supplies, equipment, and appearance of work areas for regular inspection.
- Inspect food service areas for sanitation, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Attend required training and education sessions offered by the facility.
- Lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies in excess of fifty pounds, either independently or with a team member, throughout the workday.
- Obtain a Food Handlers Card within one month of hire date.
Requirements
- No prior experience needed; on-the-job training provided.
- Adequate reading abilities to understand food service documentation.
- Ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, and visitors.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to infectious waste and disease (HBV and HIV).
- Exposure to heat in kitchen work areas and cold temperatures in food storage/freezer areas.
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and moving throughout the workday.
- May be required to work after regular hours, on holidays, and weekends.
- May be required to work shifts other than the one initially hired for.
- Exposure to slippery floors, odors, and various cleaning solutions and chemicals.
