About the role

The National Youth Advocate Program is seeking interns for its Behavioral Health team in the Newark, Zanesville, or Mt. Vernon, OH region for the Summer and Fall of 2026. Interns will work with the IHBT team, providing hands-on experience in mental health services, case management, and community-based services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate individual, group, and family mental health services
  • Perform case management
  • Transport youth and families as needed
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner
  • Participate in weekly supervision process
  • Coordinate and monitor services for youth and families in the community
  • Review and modify youth-based plans to ensure consistent progress
  • Assist in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts
  • Actively participate in community-based services

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution
  • Enrolled in an accredited institution for a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Master’s in Clinical Counseling
  • Internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) required upon completion of the internship
  • Must be 21 years of age on the first day of the internship
  • Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function
  • Proficient use of computers and software
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Good driving record and minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability

Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution
  • Enrolled in an accredited institution for a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Master’s in Clinical Counseling

Benefits

Upon completion of the internship, the individual will receive credit toward their pursued degree.
