Responsibilities

  • Motivate, interact, and communicate effectively with students, faculty, administration, industry, and the general public in a civil and respectful manner.
  • Lead preparations to instruct curricula related to the IGNITE program, including use of the Amatrol portable trainers, Computer Lab, and Amatrol Online Learning Management System.
  • Assess student performance in courses taught by the instructor.
  • Plan, develop, and implement appropriate instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate.
  • Maintain regular and prompt class attendance.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work with others as a team member.
  • Implement varied and/or supplemental learning activities to accommodate individual student needs.
  • Consult with supervisor to order equipment and supplies, arrange for delivery and set-up, and maintain all equipment and tools to ensure compliance with national, state, and lab safety requirements.
  • Review IGNITE educational materials and develop supplies list identifying consumables, and other tools required for instruction.
  • Promptly report unsafe practices, in and out of the classroom, in accordance with college policies and guidelines.
  • Conscientiously comply and support the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and SCC’s Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Model professional behaviors, values, and attitudes for students, colleagues, and the community.

Required Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma is required.
  • An AA degree or AAS degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Relevant experience working with high school age students and a foundational knowledge in Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical/Controls Engineering Technology, Robotics, or closely related field is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A willingness to continue developing technical expertise aligned with program needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge in: AC/DC industrial electricity, Electrical schematic reading and control panel wiring, Mechanical systems and power transmission, Pneumatic and hydraulic systems, Industrial safety standards and practices.

Physical Demands

The position requires approximately 6–8 hours per week on campus, typically between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Pay

The pay rate is $40 per hour.

Schedule

This is a 16-week contract position (August 17–December 11), with the possibility of renewal for the spring term.
