IEP Specialist Asst - SPED (16-072)

About the role

To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

Responsibilities

• Provide various services to special education students including, but not limited to, spoon/tube feeding, lifting and positioning, suctioning, and maintenance procedures for colostomies and tracheotomies (training will be provided by the District)
• Operate audio visual equipment and office machines
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and records
• Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff, and supervisors/administrators
• Write simple letters, memos, notes, or instructions

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of 48 college credit hours preferred
• Ability to obtain Level III Assistant licensure (appropriate college credits or pass test for licensure)
• Experience working with students preferred

• Computer data entry/word processing skills preferable
• Knowledge of spelling and proper grammar

Benefits

Nine months (185 days) per contract year and appropriate placement on the Educational Assistant Salary Schedule. The work calendar is subject to change based on any Board approved revisions that may or may not be permanent.

Conditions of Employment

• Ability to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 and, upon an offer of employment, complete an Employee's Statement of Health and submit to a functional capacity evaluation at the District's expense to determine ability to perform job-related functions and fitness for duty
