Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital is a designated critical access hospital committed to providing quality health care service to residents in Crawford, Franklin and Washington counties. The hospital has enhanced and expanded the health care services available to the greater Sullivan community with its state-of-the-art emergency department, modern childbirth center, critical care unit, multi-room surgical suite, expanded cardiac rehab services, and a cancer center. A 22,500 square-foot medical office building provides offices for primary care physicians as well as space for a variety of visiting medical and surgical specialists from the St. Louis area. The hospital operates four rural health clinics and a comprehensive Therapy and Rehabilitation department, along with an award-winning Wound Care Center featuring two hyperbaric chambers.
About the Role
The six-bed Critical Care Unit is equipped with state-of-the-art cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, caring for patients requiring critical care intervention for acute or potentially life-threatening ailments and surgical recoveries in private rooms. This is a part-time position in a 6-bed unit with a 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, seeking experienced hospital-based bedside RNs. The patient population includes:
- Respiratory distress
- Intubated patients
- Occasional post-MI patients
- Acute cardiac patients stabilized and transferred to higher levels of care

Role Purpose
Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities
- Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
- Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Participates in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
- Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
- Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.

Requirements
- Requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years of hospital-based Med/Surg experience.
- Nursing Diploma/Associate's in Nursing (required).
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
- RN license (required).
