ICU RN - Intensive Care Registered Nurse

Full time, rotating shift with up to $8000 relocation incentive (limited time).

About the role

This position accepts responsibility and accountability for delivering patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and educational needs; document patient/family responses to nursing interventions while collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.
• Develop and implement the patient’s plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs using clinical/critical thinking skills.
• Review and update the plan of care based on changes in the patient’s condition.
• Guide and direct patient care activities for the indicated population, utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence-based practice.
• Provide daily direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and Nurse Assistants.
• Provide, facilitate, and/or implement learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patients/families by assessing learning needs and formulating/initiating a teaching plan.
• Effectively communicate pertinent patient changes/conditions to colleagues and multidisciplinary caregivers.
• Attend and participate in departmental/organizational meetings, in-services, and educational opportunities (80% attendance required, with 50% in-person if webinar options are available).
• Serve as a steward for the hospital’s human and material resources; meet productivity expectations, utilize/maintain supplies, and support staffing needs across multiple units as needed.
• Participate in shared governance councils, department/house-wide committees, or work teams as requested.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa.
• Associate Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited RN program (required).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
• Previous experience in acute care (preferred).
• Preferred certification in CCRN (from Magnet-approved certifications).
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and flexibility to meet department needs.

Schedule

Full time, 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule (6 weeks on days, 6 weeks on nights), every other holiday, and every third weekend.
