ICU RN - Intensive Care Registered Nurse

Full time, rotating shift. Up to $8,000 relocation incentive (limited time).

Schedule

Full Time, 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule (6 weeks on Days and 6 weeks on Nights), every other holiday, every third weekend.

About the Role

This position accepts responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and evaluates the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and education needs; documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.
  • Develops and implements the patient’s plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs using clinical/critical thinking skills.
  • Reviews and updates the plan of care based on changes in the patient’s condition.
  • Guides and directs patient care activities for the indicated population, utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence-based practice.
  • Provides daily direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and Nurse Assistants.
  • Provides, facilitates, and/or implements learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family by assessing learning needs and formulating and initiating a teaching plan.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to colleagues and multidisciplinary caregivers.
  • Attends and participates in departmental/organizational meetings, in-services, and educational opportunities (80% attendance required, with 50% in-person if available by webinar).
  • Serves as a steward for the hospital’s human and material resources; meets productivity expectations; utilizes and maintains appropriate supplies; supports staffing needs across multiple units as needed, with flexibility in schedule and hours.
  • Participates on shared governance councils, department/house-wide committees, or work teams as requested.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited RN program (required).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
  • Previous experience in acute care (preferred).
  • Preferred certification in CCRN (from the Magnet-approved certifications).
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and flexibility to meet department needs.
