ICU LPN (Nights) FT
Responsibilities
Assists in assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Applies knowledge of illness, wellness, injuries and diseases, and uses available resources and data in assessing and caring for patients.
Documents and reports to the physician and other appropriate persons patient condition and/or other pertinent observations as well as response to nursing and/or medical intervention.
Affixes knowledge of specific illnesses, injuries, diseases, human behavior and appropriate standards of care.
Aids in planning and documenting care based on nursing assessment and applies knowledge of specific illnesses, injuries, diseases, human behavior and appropriate standards of care.
Implements clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established critical care policies and procedures.
Intervenes with proper techniques, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual patient needs.
Evaluates effectiveness of self, care given by peers, environment and instrumental in progressing patient toward outcomes.
Demonstrates competency in performing or assisting in treatments and medications such as basic nursing procedures (catheterization, suctioning, etc.).
Application of cardiac monitoring equipment.
Administers oral, rectal, sublingual, external, subcutaneous, intradermal and intramuscular medications.
Mixes, hangs, and regulates appropriate I.V. drips under the direction of Registered Nurse.
Participates in patient teaching and discharge plan by identifying risk factors, pathophysiology of patient’s illness.
Documents and reports to other appropriate persons patient condition and/or pertinent observations as well as response to nursing or medical interventions.
Respects dignity and confidentiality of patients and provides support for emotional needs.
Aids in maintaining clean, safe environment for patients and co-workers.
Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocol, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons and documenting events.
Demonstrates sound knowledge base and actions in the care of critically ill patients.
Responsible at all times to a Registered Nurse but also accountable for own conduct; and, promotes good interpersonal relationship with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel.
Aids in orientation of new personnel.
Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and unit function.
Participates in development of ICU/CCU nursing goals.
Participates in and supports research and/or quality assurance programs and activities.
Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills, using lines of authority appropriately.
Formulates and uses effective working relationships with all health care team members, patient, and significant others.
Remains flexible in staffing patterns and resolutions of staffing conflicts; participates in temporary assignment measures of the department of nursing.
Participates in continuing education programs as required.
Requirements
Proven experience as LPN or similar role.
Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team.
Familiarity with hospital health, safety and sanitation standards and procedures.
Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices.
Excellent knowledge of medical and hospital terminology.
Good knowledge of MS Office and data entry.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Careerable and able to handle stress.
Qualifications
BLS Certification (Preferred)
LPN LICENSE (Required)
