Our Information and Communication Technology Group (ICT) in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Senior Technology Systems Consultant with systems design experience focused on one or more of the following trades: Telecom/IT, Audio Visual, or Security. This role supports the engineering of systems for diverse projects, including Critical Facilities, Corporate Interiors, Sports & Entertainment, Healthcare Facilities, Airports, and educational facilities. We are particularly interested in candidates with ICT experience in Aviation.

Responsibilities

  • Support design efforts on a wide range of projects, working closely with senior and supervising consultants to perform calculations and lay out highly technical spaces.
  • Progress from basic design work assignments to more complex projects in collaboration with a technical team.
  • Provide trade-specific system design layout using CAD/BIM, calculations using appropriate software, and other design services, coordinating with architectural and engineering teams.
  • Create basic designs with minimal supervision and medium to complex designs under the direction of senior team members.
  • Develop specifications, system narratives, and system layouts for various projects and sizes.
  • Conduct field inspections to determine existing conditions and coordinate new work; assist in preparing due diligence, feasibility, gap analysis, and other technical reports and drawings.
  • Establish system application, design, and operational parameters under the direction of senior team members.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of network connectivity, LAN, WAN fundamentals, and WiFi infrastructure (WAPs, controllers).
  • Participate in and oversee the QA/QC process for your work and the work of others.
  • Assist senior team members in determining project scheduling requirements, manpower needs, and project budgets.
  • Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks, including conducting field inspections and preparing detailed inspection reports.
  • Assist in processing RFIs, Change Orders, Bulletins, and Addenda.
  • Master drawing organization format and company standards.
  • Cross-train on multidisciplinary designs and support the production of drawings, calculations, research, reports, analysis, and specifications.
  • Represent Syska Hennessy Group, interacting effectively with internal design teams and external clients and consultants (owners, builders, developers, program managers, architects, vendors, etc.).
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and work closely with the entire design team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Science, or a Technical discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in audiovisual, telecom, IT, or security design across various markets, including critical facilities (data centers, call centers, trading floors), healthcare, aviation, sports and entertainment, corporate interiors, and educational facilities.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of active network systems and structured cabling design.
  • General working knowledge of Wi-Fi network and telephony design concepts, including generating heat maps.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit preferred.
  • Certification such as P.E., ICT certification (PSP, CPP, CTS, CTS-D, RCDD, CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, PMP, etc.) required.

Pay

Chicago Pay Range: $95,412–$138,118 USD. Actual pay range for candidates will be commensurate with experience, skillsets, and competencies and may differ based on the cost of labor in their location.

Schedule

Flexible work schedule: Monday to Thursday in the office for 9 hours and Friday for 4 hours remotely from home.
