About the role

The Multi-skilled Technician is a Preventative Maintenance and Focused Improvement specialist engaged to optimize the running and maintenance of equipment within the factory. Where breakdowns occur, the multi-skilled technician will diagnose and troubleshoot failures, look for root causes, and recommend design improvements. This person will be responsible for setting the Maintenance Strategy for the respective production area. The Technician must be professionally competent and qualified to operate safely with a working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and industrial controls, and be a problem solver. They are to be actively engaged in maintaining a safe work environment, increasing production efficiency, protecting product quality, and reducing waste. A teammate who will be an active participant on the line technical team, driving performance improvements, waste reduction projects, and cost savings opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure effective support to the production line technical team, focused on delivering performance targets, and contributing to improved safety, quality, sustainability, and cost.
• Develop and execute Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Plans (Yearly, Monthly, Weekly).
• Understand mechanisms and mechanical motion; plan spare parts.
• Remove and replace electrical components (such as motors, switches/drives).
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits safely.
• Understand and troubleshoot distribution systems and electrical control circuits.
• Understand electrical drive systems and control loops.
• Demonstrate an understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and their software (Allen Bradley or other).
• Amend control and software documentation.
• Learn and understand the factories networks, servers, and firewalls.
• Understand controls and software for secondary support equipment such as vision systems (e.g., Cognex DataMan Cameras).
• Interpret, apply, and enforce all company policies, programs, rules, regulations, and safety rules.
• Become HAZWOPER certified, serve as an emergency response member, and have knowledge of the EAP (Emergency Action Plan).
• Support report writing, data analysis, problem solving, mechanical calculations, leadership, and coaching skills.
• Work as part of an extended team within the manufacturing sector.

Requirements

• Associate degree and/or technical certificate.
• Flexibility within pattern of shift work to accommodate factory shutdowns, training courses, emergency cover, and complete any work deemed necessary by the leadership team.
• Ability to navigate and use web-based programs such as Buildapp, Weever, Megamation, DFOS, and Smartcall.
• Strong coaching and communication skills.
• Proven analytical skills.
• Currently in a maintenance role.
• Business awareness: understanding of the need to meet changing demands and the role of marketing and product innovation in growing the business.
• Ability to apply rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero Loss concept to eliminate losses utilizing UMS.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience of manufacturing in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Company.
• Experience as a team member within a project management team with an awareness of project management tools and techniques.
• Two years of manufacturing, mechanical, or technical experience.
• Knowledge of structured text programming platforms.
• Knowledge of robotics and their control systems.

Working Environment

Work is performed on the manufacturing floor. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, noise, or heavy lifting. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time.

• PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) includes safety glasses, hearing protection, bump caps, sanitary, safety-toed, electrical-rated footwear, and arc flash uniforms.

Pay

$39.42 per hour ($40.97 after 1 year).

Schedule

Full-time, Day Shift Monday through Friday.
