IBH STAFF THERAPIST - PSYCHOLOGISTS/LCSW/LPCC

About the Role

Axis Community Health, a nonprofit established in 1972, provides comprehensive healthcare services to over 15,000 individuals across all age groups in the Tri-Valley area. This role involves providing direct clinical services as an Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) Staff Therapist, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care, address mental health and behavioral concerns, and support clients in achieving optimal mental health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family, or group psychotherapy using evidence-based interventions.
• Maintain a minimum patient panel of 30 per week, conduct intake, and deliver counseling services with the intention of meeting specific treatment goals.
• Complete documentation using the electronic health record in a timely fashion while adhering to related laws and regulations.
• Offer guidance and training to new staff members or interns as required.
• Provide all services in accordance with accepted standards of care and Axis protocols within the parameters of agency contractual requirements.
• Conduct psychological testing or assessments as requested (psychologists only).
• Assist medical providers in diagnostic clarification where needed.
• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, diagnose mental health conditions, and develop treatment plans.
• Collaborate with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals to integrate behavioral health into overall care.
• Offer crisis intervention, case management, and referrals to community resources as needed.
• Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and training events as assigned.
• Perform other related duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Master's or Doctoral degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
• Active licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Psychologist with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or California Board of Psychology.
• 2-5 years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting, preferably in primary care, integrated care, or community mental health, with strong training in integrated behavioral health.
• Knowledge of integrated care models, trauma-informed care, and cultural competence.
• Experience providing therapy in healthcare or community-based health clinic settings is preferred.
• Proficiency in cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, or similar modalities.
• Experience providing psychotherapy in any of the following: group, children, individual, families, or couples. Experience with children ages 5 and above is highly desirable.
• Ability to conduct short-term interventions (30 min. or 45 min. sessions).
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team in a medical setting.
• Experience working with individuals who have medical issues and co-morbid mental health conditions.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload and provide care to patients with complex needs.
• Competence in using electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
• Exceptional ability to create clear, concise, and accurate documentation.
• Bilingual English/Spanish and/or other languages is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Excellent writing, business communication, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Ability to interact effectively and supportively with persons of all backgrounds.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as on a team with sound independent judgment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor while positively representing the organization.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships.
• Must be able to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
• Must be able to be at work regularly and on time.

• A can-do attitude and attention to detail with the ability to organize and multi-task effectively.
• Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM with minimal errors.
• Good computer skills using Microsoft Office and ability to use Axis departmental systems.
• Ability to use office equipment (e.g., copier, fax).

Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a typical clinic office environment (and, in some cases, telecommuting sites). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. • Physical: Occasionally required to carry/lift/push/pull/move up to 20 lbs. Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, reaching over the shoulder, reaching over the head, reaching outward, sitting, walking on various surfaces, standing, and bending. Occasional travel to other Axis health centers and other locations may be required.
• Equipment: Frequently required to use repetitive motion of hands and feet to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, copier, and other office equipment for extended periods.
• Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and signage. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone or interacting with staff. Must be able to speak clearly, understand normal communication, and be understood. Must be able to see clearly and have the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.
• Cognitive: Must be able to analyze information, count accurately, concentrate and focus on tasks, summarize information, accurately interpret written data, synthesize information from multiple sources, write summaries, interpret written or verbal instructions, and recognize social or professional behavioral cues.
• Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office (medical clinic/office) environments. Rare exposure to dust and loud noises.
