About the role
HII’s Mission Technologies division is seeking an Intermediate-level IaC Engineer to support the DoD/DoW Advanced War Data Platform. This platform aggregates operational, intelligence, logistics, and sensor data from multiple domains, enabling Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) through a common data fabric and supporting AI/ML applications.
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains automated cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code methodologies to support operational stability, system reliability, and secure configuration management across Department of Defense cloud environments.
- Builds and modifies automated deployments using Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation to support cloud operations, software release progression, and configuration compliance throughout the system lifecycle.
- Implements automated controls supporting system administration tasks such as configuration updates, performance monitoring, patch execution, and remediation actions.
- Collaborates with cloud engineers, development teams, and cybersecurity personnel to integrate automation into continuous integration pipelines, version control workflows, and environment promotion processes.
- Maintains version control repositories using Git and GitHub, develops reusable templates, and contributes to documentation that supports audit requirements, change tracking, and configuration baselines.
- Applies automation techniques to support release management activities including deployment validation, rollback preparation, and configuration drift analysis.
- Supports incident response activities by automating diagnostic steps, log collection, and system state validation to improve response efficiency.
- Monitors system health metrics, evaluates deployment results, and refines automation logic to improve operational predictability.
- Produces reports, operational checklists, diagrams, and deployment documentation aligned with mission requirements and Government review expectations.
- Contributes to operational readiness by enhancing automation reliability, improving deployment timelines, and supporting secure, repeatable cloud operations.
Requirements
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
- AWS Certified: DevOps Engineer Professional certified
- Must be Top Secret/SCI eligible
- US Citizenship
Preferred Requirements
- Familiarity with Advana architecture, Palantir Foundry, or similar data integration platforms
- Experience with data governance frameworks and metadata management
- Agile/SAFe delivery experience in secure environments
