About the Role
Kinder Morgan CO2 Company is seeking an I&E Technician for the Yates Field in Iraan, Texas. The successful candidate will maintain the safe and efficient operation of all aspects of the Yates Field and compression facilities, assisting Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance departments in the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of automation and electronic equipment to maintain production and facility uptime.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment ranging from limited complexity to complex electrical systems.
- Work with de-energized equipment up to 12.5KV.
- Apply electrical training for NFPA 70 (NEC) and 70E standards.
- Use standard hand tools and test equipment to locate defective parts.
- Inspect and document contract work on company assets.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on various equipment as requested.
- Provide oral and written communication of activities to appropriate personnel.
- Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
- Operate company vehicles during daily activities.
- Strictly adhere to all site-specific and Kinder Morgan policies and procedures.
- Proactively complete all required training and EHS KPIs.
- Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have completed at least one (1) year as an I&E Tech 1 or industry equivalent.
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record and a current, valid State driver’s license.
- Subject to random drug testing.
Skills
- Familiarity with AC and DC circuits.
- Familiarity with 3-phase motors.
- Proficiency with electronic test equipment.
- Understanding of voltage and power requirements.
- General knowledge of electrical systems.
Physical Demands
- Primarily outside work.
- Frequently lift and carry, unassisted, items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Walking, climbing, standing, and sitting.
- Some inside work for training and computer tasks.
Schedule
Traditional work schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM. Overtime, emergency response, and callouts required. Must live within a 30-minute response time to Yates Field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or technical degree.
