Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, install and maintain plant wide Instrument and Control components used for process measurement and control in the Manufacturing Units
- Maintain complex control systems including various shut down systems interpret test results and apply necessary corrective action
- Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and company standards
- Ensure safety of personnel and maintenance of the equipment
- Maintain and troubleshoot transmitters, control valves, analyzers, pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments, switches, sensors, and related field devices.
- Support maintenance and troubleshooting of distributed control systems, safety instrumented systems, shutdown systems, and related process control equipment.
- Interpret drawings, loop sheets, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, schematics, vendor manuals, and standard maintenance procedures to complete work accurately and safely.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on instrumentation and control systems.
- Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce repeat failures.
- Execute work orders using the site’s maintenance work process and document work performed in SAP or other applicable systems.
- Support Operations during equipment troubleshooting, unit startups, shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency response situations.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety procedures, safe work permits, LOTO, confined space, hot work, line break, electrical safety, and other applicable site requirements.
- Cross-train and support related I&E, electrical, and analyzer equipment as required.
- Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, incident investigations, and continuous improvement activities.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Background and Experience
- Associate Degree or higher in Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Technology OR High school education/ equivalent and 5 years or more of relevant experience (ex: Journeyman I&E Mechanic)
- Knowledge of control systems
- Knowledge of various Safety Shutdown Systems
- 5 years of experience as a journeyman I&E Mechanic
- Knowledge of SAP
- Knowledge of process, laboratory, and mechanical operations
- Previous experience in a leadership position
- Experience with safe work permits
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements
- Previous emergency response experience
Competencies and Skills
- Must be willing to cross train on Electrical and Analyzer equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting/Root Cause Analysis and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with other mechanics and staff personnel (fluent in English)
- Must be able to read SMP and other manuals
- High attention to detail
- Desire to excel and achieve results
- Must be able to work as a team
- Must be able to work in an empowered workgroup with minimal supervision
Notable Working Conditions
- Position requires working 10 hours/days 4 days/week with alternating scheduled weekend duty.
- May have to work overtime and callouts when required.
- Position required to walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
