About the Role

As an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Operations Technician III, you’ll work with a team of safety-focused technicians to maximize equipment reliability and availability. Mentoring teammates, troubleshooting and solving sophisticated problems efficiently, and attention to detail are keys to success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex maintenance and operational tasks with all natural gas process-related equipment and systems.
  • Minimizes unplanned shutdowns through root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions with a focus on improving safety.
  • Fixes and maintains process control systems, including Allen Bradley PLC systems.
  • Partners with project managers to define scope and instrumentation specifications for new projects.
  • Properly maintains and completes maintenance records, service reports, and other required documents.
  • Maintains and operates glycol dehydration, cryogenic processing, fractionation plants, reciprocating and turbine compressors.
  • Demonstrates proper use of personal protective equipment, vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Attends safety and technical training while progressing in the I&E Operations Technician development process.
  • Follows and adheres to Williams’ System Integrity Plan for all regulatory requirements and company core values.
  • Supports teams by providing quality maintenance duties to maximize equipment reliability and availability, including electrical troubleshooting of low to high voltage equipment, repair, and instrumentation and control valve calibration.
  • Participates in root cause analysis and execution of corrective actions to minimize recurrence of unplanned shutdowns.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to troubleshoot and maintain process control systems.
  • Initiates and completes work orders and requisitions, documenting all critical or pertinent information routinely.
  • Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, instrumentation, and analytical equipment following electrical codes, manuals, procedures, schematic diagrams, P&IDs, blueprints, and other specifications.
  • Inspects instrumentation periodically and performs calibrations to ensure accuracy.
  • Performs some programming and controls work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an Operations Technician or similar role, including one (1) year experience as an I&E Technician.
  • Preferred: Associates or 2-year technical degree and minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an Operations Technician in the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises, and in enclosed spaces.
  • Ability to carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Available to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekend shifts, and holidays as needed.
  • May be required to work overtime, 10-12 hour shifts, and travel between Williams locations with occasional overnight stays.
  • Must possess a valid State Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • Demonstrates aptitude and ability to embrace technology and applications to drive operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and prioritizes safety.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills.
  • Previous experience working in an environment with gas-plant operations, gas compression, and/or liquid or gas gathering processes.
  • Previous experience in the mechanical, electrical, and/or maintenance industry.
  • Electrical/electronic skills and knowledge.
