I&E Operations Tech III/Sr

About the Role

As an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Operations Technician III/Sr., you’ll work with a team of safety-focused technicians to maximize equipment reliability and availability. Mentoring team mates, solving sophisticated problems efficiently, and attention to detail are keys to success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex maintenance and operational tasks with all natural gas process related equipment and systems
• Minimizes unplanned shutdowns through root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions
• Partners with supervisors and managers to share findings, root causes, and resolutions with a focus on improved safety
• Fixes and maintains process control systems
• Partners with projects managers to define scope and instrumentation specifications for new projects
• Serves as the subject matter expert for instrumentation, electrical, PLC, and control systems across assigned facilities or operating areas
• Develops and implements solutions for complex control system, instrumentation, and electrical issues to improve safety, reliability, and operational efficiency
• Leads major system upgrades, control system integrations, and commissioning efforts while ensuring adherence to technical standards and best practices
• Mentors technicians and drives continuous improvement initiatives related to instrumentation, electrical, and automation systems
• Maintains and operates glycol dehydration, cryogenic processing, fractionation plant, reciprocating and turbine compressors
• Demonstrates proper use of personal protective equipment, vehicles, tools, and equipment
• Attends safety and technical training while progressing in the I&E Operations Technician development process
• Maintains, operates, and mentors less senior technicians on Allen Bradley PLC systems
• Follows and adheres to Williams’ System Integrity Plan for all regulatory requirements and company core values and beliefs
• Supports teams by providing and leading quality maintenance duties to maximize equipment reliability and availability, including electrical troubleshooting of low to high voltage equipment, repair, and instrumentation and control valve calibration
• Participates in root cause analysis and execution of corrective actions to minimize recurrence of unplanned shutdowns
• Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to troubleshoot and maintain process control systems
• Initiates and completes work orders and requisitions, and documents all critical or pertinent information on a routine basis
• Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, instrumentation, and analytical equipment following electrical code, manuals, procedures, schematic diagrams, P&IDs, blueprints, and other specifications
• Inspects instrumentation periodically and performs calibrations to ensure accuracy
• Performs some programming and controls work
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and minimum of three (3) years' experience in operations, engineering, or the energy industry
• Associates or 2-year technical degree (preferred)
• Minimum five (5) years' experience in operations, engineering, or the energy industry (preferred)
• Five (5) years of Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) experience, including instrumentation troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance, with experience performing low-voltage electrical work in an industrial environment (preferred)
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC systems, including programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostics, with the ability to support and maintain automated control systems (preferred)
• Must possess valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Demonstrates aptitude and ability to embrace technology and applications to drive operational efficiency and streamline processes
• Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Application and PC skills
• Previous experience working in an environment with gas-plant operations, gas compression and/or liquid or gas gathering processes
• Previous experience in the mechanical, electrical, and/or maintenance industry

Physical and Environmental Work Requirements

• Ability to work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises, and in enclosed spaces
• Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed
• Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time
• Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
• Use hand tools

Schedule

• Available to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekend shifts, and holidays as the need arises
• May be required to work overtime
• Works a 10-hour Monday-Thursday schedule
