I & E Engineer
About the role
We are seeking an instrumentation and electrical control engineer to join our team. Your responsibilities will include providing engineering services, adhering to plant HSE standards, promoting the use of instrumentation and automation technology, assisting with troubleshooting, and supporting maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all plant HSE standards, policies and procedures.
- Promote the utilization of instrumentation and automation technology to increase the overall equipment effectiveness, production unit performance, and reduce total maintenance costs.
- Aid maintenance technicians and production teams with troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Work with maintenance personnel and departmental resources to develop, design, and ensure the reliability of new and modified installations.
- Develop a life cycle asset management program for the site's I&E control equipment.
- Collaborate with process control engineers, process engineers, and production team members to design and deploy new instrumentation and control strategies to increase product yield, reduce energy usage, and optimize product value.
- Coach and mentor personnel on the concepts and use of various instrumentation technology.
- Generate and champion new Industrial Automation improvement projects that enhance unit operation, effectiveness, quality, or operability.
- Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date design drawings and specifications.
- Participate, lead, and provide support to HAZOP Team studies.
- Supervise the work of contractors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
- Candidates with other technical degrees demonstrating a strong background in application and implementation of process field instrumentation in an industrial manufacturing environment will be considered.
- Six (6) years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment in either chemical or refining processes, supporting L&E maintenance activities, and serving as a subject matter expert in application, implementation, and troubleshooting field instrumentation.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and capable of functioning in a team-based environment.
- Ability to work effectively with other departments, especially the unit maintenance and operations team members.
- Dedication and capability to be a safety champion.
- Experience specifying industrial instrumentation to measure pressure, temperature, flow, and density.
- Experience specifying valves and final control elements used in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Experience designing loop sheets, equipment control wiring diagrams, and motor control circuits.
- Experience defining, configuring, and commissioning Variable Speed Drives.
- Experience in a PSM manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $112,000 to $140,000 per year.

Skills
Strong skills in instrumentation and electrical control engineering, including experience with process field instrumentation, automation technology, and troubleshooting are essential. Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) is required. Knowledge of PSM (Process Safety Management) principles and experience in a PSM manufacturing environment is highly valued.
