I & C Specialist III

About the role

As an I&C Specialist III, you will design and implement instrumentation and control systems for water/wastewater projects by programming PLC control systems, SCADA systems, and Human Machine Interface software. You will also use AutoCAD to develop complex instrument control loops, instrument and electrical installation details, instrument location drawings, motor control schematics, conduit routing, and control panel design.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specifications and drawings, write control system descriptions, and perform start-up and commissioning activities with minimal supervision.
• Implement communications systems such as Ethernet-based local area networks and wireless radio systems.
• Create instrument material take-offs from drawings.
• Work closely with Project Managers, project teams, and clients to implement solutions.
• Troubleshoot problems in operational situations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• 15 years of I&C design and PLC/SCADA programming experience.
• Extensive experience with system networking, I&C drawings (loops, cabinet layout/wiring), and P&ID drawings.
• Extensive experience programming PLCs and HMIs, with knowledge of various PLC and SCADA software.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to balance multiple work assignments across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Process-oriented thinking with strong organizational and technical skills.
• Precision and accuracy appropriate to project demands.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to follow directives from Project Managers, Contractors, and Regulators.
• Moderate flexibility to accommodate varying project demands.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record as determined by McKim & Creed.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
