I&C Plant Technician

About the Role

This position is responsible for performing operations functions, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning of plant equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet. The role promotes safe, effective, and reliable operation under the direction of site management.

Responsibilities

• Proficient in maintenance of process control instrumentation.
• Maintain equipment at the plant, including troubleshooting and documentation.
• Assist in resolving problems discovered on shift.
• Perform daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting, repair/replacement, and removal/installation of plant equipment and auxiliary systems.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain power plant instrumentation systems and control systems.
• Make decisions and recommend appropriate repair techniques for plant equipment to peers, supervisors, and plant management.
• Conduct excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Operate material handling equipment proficiently.
• Develop and implement plant operating procedures.
• Understand the relationship of equipment to plant systems.
• Provide instruction and teaching to lower-level employees.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures, including Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, and PPE.
• Regularly develop and present safety topics.
• Develop an understanding of HPI tools through training opportunities and practice.
• Actively participate in Pre/Post Job briefs.
• Work with other technicians to perform routine and emergency maintenance and/or compliance activities on plant instrumentation and control systems, including weekends, holidays, and scheduled shifts.
• Cover unit start-up and shut-down activities with assistance from other Technicians.
• Learn to enter WRs and PRs into Maximo.
• Assist in the design and implementation of O&M and Capital projects.
• Learn to communicate LOTO requests to Operations.
• Maintain a good working relationship with Operations, Electrical, Purchasing, Warehouse personnel, other support groups, and vendors.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Instrumentation or Electronics and one (1) year as an I&C Technician or High School Diploma/GED equivalent with three (3) years of related work experience.
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 within primary skill for position job performance measure.
• Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrate computer-based skills.
• Demonstrate effective oral and verbal communication skills.
• Independent knowledge of troubleshooting.
• Ability to work nights and weekends based on plant needs.
• Successful completion of the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS/MASS) program.
