Hydromet EW Operator II

About the role

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona, Morenci operations consist of an open-pit copper mining complex with multiple facilities including concentrators, leach pads, and various processing units. The operation is part of a unique company town offering recreational activities and amenities.

Responsibilities

• Operates process equipment in the electro-winning process
• Maintains electrolytic cells at a highly skilled level
• Monitors and adjusts processes as needed
• Harvests copper cathodes
• Performs cell maintenance duties including setting a jumper frame, draining cells, inspecting for damage, fixing leaks, hydro-blasting, cleaning, repairing/replacing level boxes, and replacing buffer sheets and boards
• Fabricates starter sheets and operates a cathode press
• Collects and runs plant samples
• Completes tasks related to the shipping of copper cathodes such as weighing bundles, banding bundles, and loading trucks
• Aids in maintenance activities
• Operates mobile equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts
• Performs area housekeeping
• Assists in filling-in as a supervisor
• Mentors and trains other employees
• Performs other duties as required

Requirements

• Two (2) years of experience in hydromet processing operations
• Completed academic and practical competencies required (Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists)
• Ability to apply knowledge and skills while passing a written assessment where required

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
