Hydrographic Technical Support Consultant
About the role
Teledyne CARIS is seeking a Hydrographic Technical Support Consultant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a background in hydrography or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, along with proficiency in hydrographic software and scripting languages.
Responsibilities
- Provide first-line technical support to customers via email, phone, and online platforms
- Deliver software training sessions both remotely and onsite at client locations worldwide
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Analyze customer environments and challenges to identify technical issues and design integrated solutions
- Document workflows, standard operating procedures, and technical knowledge for internal and client use
- Support marketing and sales initiatives, including participation in international conferences and exhibitions
- Provide expert consultancy services as experience and expertise deepen in the role
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, or a related discipline OR equivalent professional experience in hydrographic surveying
- Experience with hydrographic software such as EIVA, Hypack, QPS, HIPS and SIPS, or equivalent
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python preferred)
- Strong presentation skills and confidence delivering training to diverse audiences
- Fluency in English (additional languages are an asset)
- Must be a United States citizen (due to client, regulatory, or project requirements)
- Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 25–30%)
- Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Preferred / Asset Qualifications: Experience with CARIS software products, knowledge of bathymetric LiDAR systems, experience working with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL), familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), understanding of RESTful APIs, SQL, and JSON
