Hydrographic Surveyor II (Can Reside Anywhere in US)
This position carries out field tasks for survey projects as directed by a manager or Party Chief. The Hydrographic Survey Technician performs all assigned tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude, ensuring the Party Chief's or managers' needs are effectively met regarding field activities. A positive attitude, teamwork, and the ability to function well under pressure are essential.
Responsibilities
- Measure, map, and collect data on the topography of underwater environments using cutting-edge specialized equipment and advanced techniques to produce detailed charts and maps of riverbeds, shores, and the sea floor.
- Actively collect and quality-check data for use in hydrographic models.
- Utilize techniques such as multibeam sonar, sidescan sonars, sub-bottom profilers, and conventional towing operations.
- Operate a variety of field equipment and concepts, including GPS, navigation software, USBL, MBES, side scan sonar, subbottom data, AUV surveying principles, 2D and 3D seismic principles, and geotechnical acquisition principles.
- Attend and participate in shift handover and HSE meetings.
- Assist with and maintain reports.
- Understand AUV technical operations.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in the Survey or Geoscience industry as a Survey Professional.
- Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
- Must have or be able to obtain a COVID vaccination.
- Must be able to obtain a valid Passport and any other regionally mandated offshore work requirement documents as appropriate.
- Must be proficient with mechanical and electrical equipment.
Qualifications
- Two (2) year Technical Degree or higher in a related field of study preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent desired.
- Current security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.

Working Conditions
- Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water.
- Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
- Frequently, humidity is above 90%, noise is over 85 decibels, and light is intense/glare.
- Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
- Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
- Work surface is stable, height is elevated.
