Hydraulics Design Engineer - Engineer Senior
About the role
This position is located at the Bridge Office in Oakdale and may have flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor and will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Design bridge waterways, culverts, deck drain systems, retention/detention basins and channels for trunk highways
- Provide technical expertise and assistance to MnDOT District Offices, municipalities and county engineers as requested
- Conduct bridge scour evaluation on new and existing bridges and design countermeasures
- Update drainage standards and support hydraulic automation and asset management
- Be involved in hydraulic climate resiliency efforts at MnDOT
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR before starting employment.)
- Experience in hydraulics and hydrology, including 2D modeling of streams and rivers
- Experience analyzing and preparing engineering data
- Experience providing technical guidance and support to others
