EngineeringFull-time

At MPC, we’re committed to being a great place to work – one that welcomes new ideas, encourages diverse perspectives, develops our people, and fosters a collaborative team environment.

About the role

This role provides hydraulic engineering support for natural gas and crude gathering systems by evaluating current and future system performance, identifying operational constraints, and developing engineering solutions that support operations, commercial development, and capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform steady-state hydraulic modeling for gas or liquid systems; begin modeling transient analysis.
  • Independently manage multiple assignments, establish priorities, and deliver quality engineering work within established schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Gather and interpret field data to troubleshoot issues and validate model results.
  • Support capital project scoping with hydraulic inputs.
  • Coordinate directly with operations on pressure concerns, system balancing, or outage impacts.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Producer Customers, Business Development, Measurement, Construction, and Project Engineering to develop practical engineering solutions and support project execution.
  • Prepare technical memos, slides, and visualizations for broader audiences.
  • Communicate technical information effectively across all levels of the organization and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Configure leak detection systems/models or PI Vision screens to monitor for anomalies.
  • Independently perform hydraulic modeling or develop and maintain leak detection models.
  • Coordinate operations concerns from a pressure control and capacity maximization perspective.
  • Maintain working knowledge of field operations and system troubleshooting, including pigging, hydrates, liquids management, pressure control, and gathering system operations.
  • Develop, maintain, calibrate, and analyze hydraulic models using Synergi Gas, Synergi Liquid, and/or PIPER, integrating GIS shapefiles, PI/PI Vision, FLOWCAL, producer forecasts, and operating data.
  • Develop, interpret, or utilize transient hydraulic models using Symmetry, SPS, or equivalent software.
  • Analyze current operating conditions and future producer forecasts to identify capacity constraints, optimize gathering system performance, and develop engineering recommendations.
  • Prepare engineering evaluations, MPMPs, Charters, technical scopes, and other project documentation supporting pipelines, compressor stations, pump stations, treating facilities, and other midstream infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; chemical or mechanical preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in hydraulic engineering or related field.
  • Strong understanding of natural gas and crude gathering systems, including pipeline hydraulics, flow assurance, compression, pumping, treating, processing, and facility operations.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software such as Synergi Gas, Synergi Liquid, PIPER, Symmetry, or SPS.

Benefits

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance.
  • Paid time off.
  • 401k matching program.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Educational reimbursement.
  • Discretionary company-sponsored annual bonus program.
