Hybrid Therapist/Social Worker

About the Role

Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating psychosocial services for patients at PrairieCare. This position provides a comprehensive range of services to patients and their families, including case management and therapeutic services, with the goal of enhancing patient functioning. The role may involve working with children, adolescents, and adults, including patients with co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge and understanding of social work practices and principles.
  • Conduct effective case psychosocial assessments, suicide risk assessments, discharge planning, and lead psychoeducational and/or therapeutic groups.
  • Communicate with patients and families to keep them involved in treatment plan decisions.
  • Coordinate care with outpatient providers upon admission and discharge.
  • Contribute clinical perspective to the interdisciplinary team based on training in family systems and/or social work theory.
  • Facilitate group, individual, and family therapy sessions.
  • Provide coverage for other social workers/therapists when needed.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clinical team members and directors.
  • May supervise those pursuing clinical licensure.
  • Orient and educate in gender, cultural differences, and age-appropriate care for the assigned department.
  • Flexibility to work at different PrairieCare metro locations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related therapeutic field.
  • Independent licensure as a mental health professional (e.g., LP, LPCC, LMFT, LICSW) in Minnesota required. Non-independently licensed candidates may be considered at an Associate level therapist.
  • If degree is in a closely related field and pursuing an LPCC, must demonstrate coursework meets licensure requirements through comparison or unofficial review with the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.
  • Licensure or active pursuit of clinical licensure in Minnesota, including clinical supervision and counting supervision hours.
  • Two years of previous mental health experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in intensive psychiatric healthcare settings preferred.
  • Experience using electronic health records preferred.
  • Cultural responsiveness and bilingual language skills strongly preferred.
  • Ability to maintain required malpractice insurance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to shift rapidly between dissimilar tasks.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in volatile or emergency situations as part of a team.
  • Ability to make effective decisions under stress.
  • After training, ability to manage disruptive and explosive patients.

Pay

Compensation for this role ranges from $29 to $38 per hour, depending on licensure and experience.
