About the role

The Baker School District is seeking a 1.0 FTE hybrid Speech Language Pathologist for the Special Education Department for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is primarily virtual and requires residency in the state of Oregon.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality speech-language therapy services primarily virtual to a wide variety of students in grades K-12.
  • Screen students who may require a referral for a speech and language evaluation.
  • Develop and implement primarily virtual programs for students who are identified as having a Communication Disorder or needed related services in the areas of speech and/or language.
  • Conduct hearing screenings and interpret results to make appropriate referrals.
  • Case manage all aspects of the IEP process for students with a Communication Disorder whose only services are in the areas of speech and/or language.
  • Provide quarterly written progress reports on student growth.
  • Assist in the Student Intervention Teams process to provide early intervening services.
  • Comply with all Medicaid requirements for school-based claiming, including obtaining written Medicaid consent from parents of all students served and timely filing of claims that meet Medicaid standards.
  • Plan therapeutic activities for, and oversee certified Speech Language Pathology Assistants as assigned.
  • Administer standardized assessments in the areas of speech and/or language development, and interpret these results with special education eligibility teams.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records for students who are identified as having a Communication Disorder or needed related services in compliance with state standards and District policy.
  • Develop and submit reports as required by the supervisor.
  • Maintain regular attendance at work and work activities, and is punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Valid Oregon Teaching License in Speech Impaired or Communication Disorders or valid Oregon State Board Speech Pathology License.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective online learning environment.
  • Possess excellent time management skills which includes the ability to set goals, focus, organize, prioritize, communicate and delegate.
  • Ability to assist in the development, revisions and evaluation of the curriculum and instructional services.
  • Ability to assist in the development of school plans and organizational procedures for the health, safety, discipline and conduct of students as established in district procedures.
  • Ability to serve as liaison between the school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging parent involvement with the school.
  • Ability to provide direction to others and to make independent judgments.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, teachers and community.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Valid Oregon Teaching License in Speech Impaired or Communication Disorders or valid Oregon State Board Speech Pathology License.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card.
