Candidate Profile

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school required.
• Active Bar Admission in New York, in good standing.
• 5+ years of substantive experience in national title insurance underwriting or comparable commercial real estate experience in a law firm setting.
• Solid understanding of the process of title underwriting real estate transactions for the issuance of title insurance policies.
• Able to interpret and apply title insurance underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits.
• Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and externally, with clients and others.
• Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage significant transaction volume, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow up in a timely manner.
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Effective communicator with strong negotiation skills, who can deliver guidance with clarity, professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.
• Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, with the ability to assess risk and provide practical solutions.
• Creative, solution-oriented approach to resolving complex, multi-state, multi-property title challenges.

What You’ll Do

• Provide title underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and customers, related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
• Apply underwriting standards to assess risk and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance to internal teams on commercial real estate settlement services and transaction structure.
• Develop and communicate underwriting guidelines and best practices in alignment with organizational standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support efficient and successful transaction execution.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary range: $200,000 – $300,000+ This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements, qualifications, and geographic location.
