About the role
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Permanent Hybrid Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team in the Engineering industry. This unique role offers the flexibility of a hybrid work environment, combining both remote and in-office duties.
Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation, distribution, and reporting processes for payroll.
- Handle the administration of electronic timesheets for accuracy and completeness.
- Calculate monthly allowances and process bonuses for eligible employees.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Conduct audits and validations of payroll information and data.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitate communication with employees and management to answer payroll-related questions, resolve issues, and provide general information.
- Collaborate with the HR team to review and process HSA contributions.
- Handle payroll aspects of internal and external audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of multi-state payroll, wage, and hour laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in managing payroll systems, timesheets, monthly allowances, and AP entries.
- Experience in conducting internal and external audits.
- Strong understanding of the payroll process for bonuses and HSA contributions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in MS Office and payroll software programs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
- Professional certification in Payroll (CPP) is a plus.
