Hybrid Gym & Café Staff
The Front is hiring full-time Gym & Café Staff for our Salt Lake City and South Main locations. Pay ranges from $17–$19/hour for gym duties and $19–$21/hour for café duties, depending on the shift.

The Front Climbing Club builds more than gyms—we build community. Our spaces are designed to spark connection, fuel the climbing obsession, and give people a "third place" to belong outside of home and work. This role sits at the center of both the climbing floor and the café counter.
About The Role
This hybrid position blends Gym Staff and Café Staff responsibilities. Some shifts focus on front desk operations and climbing floor oversight, while others involve café service, including food and drink preparation. The role is full-time and based at our Salt Lake City and South Main gyms.
Responsibilities
- On The Gym Floor
- Welcome climbers, check them in, and walk them through waivers and facility highlights
- Sign up new members and keep membership information accurate
- Answer questions about climbing, memberships, events, and gear, and ring up sales
- Keep the gym clean—sweeping, mopping, laundry, and daily deep-cleans
- Monitor climbing areas for cert tags, safe technique, and unsafe behavior
- Run belay tests and autobelay orientations
- In The Café
- Greet guests, walk them through the menu, and help them find something they'll love
- Prepare and serve food, coffee, espresso drinks, and alcoholic beverages to recipe and service standards
- Prep ingredients—cutting, slicing, assembling, and cooking to quality and safety guidelines
- Check food for quality, temperature, and presentation before it goes out
- Bus tables, clean equipment, and keep front- and back-of-house running smoothly
- Stock supplies, flag inventory needs, and help control food costs by minimizing waste
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience (work, school, or trade training all count), including at least 2 years of serving and/or cooking experience
- 21+ years old with the ability to hold (or already hold) a Utah Alcohol Server Permit—required for this role
- Willingness to obtain a food handler's permit, First Aid/CPR certification, and any additional alcohol certification upon hire
- Barista experience or espresso know-how is a plus
- Friendly, approachable, and genuinely enjoy working with people
- Ability to multitask in fast-paced environments, such as managing a line of guests or a rush of drink orders
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and varying shifts
- Ability to stay calm, focused, and professional during hectic moments
- Comfortable standing for full shifts and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Passion for climbing and appreciation for well-made coffee (e.g., cortado)
