HYBRID Engineering Manager – Systems Integration
Our client, an industrial manufacturer outside of Racine, WI, is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead their Embedded Systems Team (5). Over the last few years, they have continued investing heavily in automation and technology, creating the need for additional leadership within their engineering organization. This newly created role will provide technical direction, structure, and leadership across embedded systems initiatives supporting their electro-hydraulic product portfolio.
About the role
The Engineering Manager will oversee embedded software, controls, vision systems, and hardware integration projects while partnering closely with mechanical and electrical engineering teams. This role will focus on improving engineering processes, strengthening testing and validation practices, and supporting the continued development of next-generation products. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of people leadership, technical oversight, project execution, and building scalable engineering practices within a stable, growing manufacturer.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of embedded software, vision systems, controls, and related hardware
- Oversee a team of 5 engineers and the successful delivery of embedded systems projects
- Establish clear performance goals, mentor engineering team, and provide feedback
- Manage project timelines, scope, resource planning, and change management
- Partner with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure seamless system performance
- Create and implement best practices for embedded software development
- Develop and enforce a structured testing and release strategy
- Define test cases, performance benchmarks, and failure criteria for validation processes
- Implement a revision control system for software releases to support field reliability
- Encourage a culture of responsibility, innovation, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Strong background within systems engineering/systems integration required
- Project leadership experience within manufacturing required
- Experience integrating software and hardware projects required
- Hands-on coding (any language) experience is required

Pay
$150,000-$160,000+ (negotiable) + Bonus Potential
Schedule
Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with some flexibility around start/end times (~45 hours/week). Hybrid flexibility (1-2 days remote per week after 3-6 months).
