This role focuses on developing accurate and well-coordinated control system designs under the guidance of senior engineering staff and project managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop HVAC and building automation control system designs, including control schematics, network/riser diagrams, panel layouts, and point-to-point wiring details.
- Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation to produce complete and coordinated control designs.
- Absorb assistance with the preparation of control submittals, bills of materials (BOMs), and device schedules for procurement and fabrication.
- Apply established engineering standards, codes, and best practices (e.g., NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, UL) with guidance from senior engineers.
- Participate in QA/QC reviews by responding to comments and revising drawings, submittals, and as-built documentation.
- Support commissioning and startup activities by coordinating with software and field teams and assisting with troubleshooting controls or networking issues.
- Draft sequences of operation, control narratives, and basic logic diagrams for HVAC and integrated building systems.
- Assist in the design of system architectures utilizing BACnet, Modbus, and IP-based communication networks.
- Support control panel design efforts, including layout development and review of panel shop drawings.
- Help evaluate control hardware, sensors, and system configurations to support performance and energy efficiency goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design issues and maintain project schedules.
- Follow internal CAD standards, documentation guidelines, and engineering workflows.
