About the role
The Technician – HVAC position is available to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard and Reserve Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers. This role is "On-Site" at the BMS Devens campus.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair air handling units, exhaust fans, fume hoods, fan coil units, reheat coils, and other associated mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot customer service calls for temperature control inside our buildings.
- Partner with subject matter experts (SME) & Reliability services to troubleshoot operational issues.
- Ensure appropriate R&M data is captured on a work order.
- Support Facilities operational activities for BMS Devens.
- Review and analyze system data and develop recommendations for maintenance changes, upgrades, replacements, etc.
- Cross train and backup, as appropriate to the advanced level.
- Maintain up-to-date and complete system documentation in a central resource location.
- Monitor and adjust various systems, determine and recommend corrective actions for malfunctions.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all base building and critical HVAC system equipment.
- Conduct immediate clean-up of work area, return tools to workshop, and restock supplies.
- Report equipment problems and supply shortages to the Operations Manager.
- Maintain tools and order supplies as needed for installation and repairs.
- Comply with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Requirements
- High School diploma, state equivalent, or GED equivalent.
- 2+ years of related trade schooling or equivalent, preferred.
- Boiler License or EPA certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
- Familiarity with computer equipment and programs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate electric hand tools, work on ladders, carry heavy loads, operate required equipment, and drive a motor vehicle.
- Demonstrated ability to manage across functional lines and deliver results in a matrix organization.
Qualifications

Benefits
Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

Devens - MA - US: $39.01 - $47.28 per hour
