Role Summary
The HVAC Service Technician – Boiler Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing boiler systems and associated HVAC equipment in commercial and industrial environments. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a working knowledge of hydronic and steam systems, and the ability to work independently in the field while providing excellent customer service.Roles and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial boiler systems, including hot water and steam boilers
- Perform boiler start-ups, shutdowns, combustion analysis, and efficiency testing
- Diagnose issues with burners, pumps, valves, expansion tanks, controls, and safety devices
- Inspect boiler systems to ensure safe, reliable, and code-compliant operation
- Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, heating systems, and HVAC equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, piping schematics, and equipment manuals
- Identify repair needs and communicate findings and recommendations to customers
- Complete service documentation accurately using mobile service platforms
- Maintain service vehicle, tools, and parts inventory
- Follow all company safety policies and jobsite procedures
- Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours service as required
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of HVAC service experience with hands-on boiler experience
- Strong knowledge of hydronic and/or steam boiler systems
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues
- EPA Universal Certification required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize service calls and manage daily workload
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and occasional overtime
Preferred Qualifications
- Boiler manufacturer training or certifications
- Experience with low-pressure and high-pressure boilers
- Gas and/or oil burner experience
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience in hospitals, schools, industrial plants, or large commercial facilities
