North Seattle College is looking to hire an HVAC Technician in the Facilities Department.
Salary Range for this position is $63,144 - $76,944 (DOE)

Position Summary
As an HVAC Technician, you will be a key member of the team that maintains a one million square foot campus facility. In this role, you will be serving as a lead maintenance specialist, performing skilled work in diagnostic testing, repair, and maintenance of HVAC, refrigeration, and hot/chilled water distribution systems.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE.
What you will be working on
- Installation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of air handlers, air flow dampers, V-belts, sheaves, pulleys, and bearings;
- Maintains and repairs commercial refrigeration equipment used in air conditioning, ventilation, and chilled water systems.
- Maintains and adjusts heat and air conditioning in buildings using automated building monitoring and control systems.
- Use all types of hand and power tools such as drill presses, grinders, bandsaws, hand drills, testers, welding equipment, soldering guns, small hand tools and specialized apparatus.
- Estimates times and orders materials and supplies needed to maintain equipment in good working condition; keeps records of work performed and supplies used.
- Leads and instructs helpers, patients, or inmates.
- Read, interpret, and update blueprints.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and professionally.
- Maintain professionalism and excellent customer service at all times.
- Communicate effectively with customers, management, and dispatchers.
- Demonstrated ability or willingness to learn Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other backgrounds and cultures.
What you bring as a candidate
- 5 years experience with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment (HVAC) systems which include the performance of skilled work in diagnostic testing, repair, and maintenance of HVAC and steam distribution systems.
- Journey-level standing as HVAC mechanic or steamfitter, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in mechanical trades and HVAC work; principles of operation of HVAC systems; occupational hazards and safety practices of HVAC trade.
Physical Requirements
Moderate physical effort which may include standing, walking, and lifting or moving heavy parcels, machines of up to 50 pounds.
Frequent activities require full body exertion.
Indoor/outdoor work environment with some exposure to weather extremes.
