HVAC Technician

Description of duties of position

Monday - Friday 3:00PM - 11:00PM
The employee will install and maintain air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including but not limited to overhauling compressors, changing cooling units, fitting rings, bearings, belt and shafts, repairing cooling/heating coils.
Will install and maintain pneumatic electronic control systems including adjustment and calibrating control devices and valves.
Will service and maintain plant and instrument compressed air systems, oil burners, low-pressure steam and hot water heating systems.
Will install and maintain the following piping systems, including but not limited to, steam/condensate, chilled water, process cooling, plant/instrument air, potable water, glycol, and refrigerant.
Will provide 24-hour emergency response as necessary in support of mechanical systems.
Will assist fellow trade and service workers as required.

Qualifications required of applicant

• Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician’s license and five years’ experience in the refrigeration field required.
• Massachusetts Journeyman Pipe Fitter’s license with a minimum of three years’ experience desired.
• Massachusetts Oil Burner Technician’s license is desired.
• The ability to read construction drawings and process and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs) is required.
• Must be able to work all shifts as required by MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
