HVAC Technician
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Installing or helping to install, maintain, and repair heating and cooling systems in various buildings throughout Holland Home's facilities
- Performing preventative maintenance on heating and cooling equipment; while also maintaining related records
- Maintaining and repairing refrigerator systems, freezers, walk-in coolers, ice machines, and drinking fountains
- Replacing stated equipment as needed
- Ordering parts and equipment from vendors as necessary
- Informs Supervisors of repairs needed and/or replacement of existing equipment
- Using proper chemicals and correct mixtures
- Adhering to safe work practices and standards including use of required safety equipment
- Understanding resident rights and incorporating them into daily practice
Job Qualifications
- HVAC Non-Certified Technician, HVAC Certified Technician, and HVAC Licensed Technician are all welcome to apply.
- Must be able to provide certification if relevant. If certified: must complete the program through the North American Technician Excellence Certification in: Air Conditioning Installation; Heat Pump Service; Heat Pump Installation; and Air Conditioning Service.
- Knowledge normally acquired through a minimum of two years of college and field experience in related areas
- Heating/cooling experience is required, specifically on residential equipment installation
- General knowledge of forced air, hot water, steam, combination hot water and steam systems, refrigeration systems, self-contained and splits systems and hydronics
- Proof of a valid Michigan driver’s license and vehicle liability insurance is required as well as reliable means of transportation
- Ability to pass a basic work physical
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check

- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate in a pleasant manner with staff, residents, and their families while performing job duties

Schedule
Full-Time (40 Hours/Week)
Monday - Friday (7:00 am - 3:30 pm)
Evenings and Weekends
On-Call rotation required (Rotating between 4 HVAC employees)

Mental & Physical Demands
Pressures related to identifying and resolving equipment problems, and working on tasks requiring concentration and attention to detail.
Ability to lift and carry packages/boxes/supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb stairs, reach, stoop, bend, kneel and/or crouch and utilize the equipment and tools necessary when installing and repairing heating and cooling systems.
Working Conditions
Work involves exposure to unpleasant elements such as odor, dust, dirt and the like as well as proximity to environmental hazards associated with electrical and mechanical and/or power equipment.
Possible hazards from refrigeration gases, motors, belts, large units and high voltage.
Incumbent has minimal exposure to communicable diseases when using standard precaution methods.
Evening, weekend and/or holiday hours may be required.
On-call availability to handle work problems, respond to emergency situations, etc. at all work hours is required.
