Responsibilities
- Maintaining and repairing air handling units, exhaust fans, fume hoods, fan coil units, reheat coils, and other associated mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot customer service calls for temperature control inside our buildings.
- Partner with subject matter experts (SME) & Reliability services to troubleshoot operational issues.
- Support of the following operations at the BMS Devens campus: Biologics Large Scale Commercial Manufacturing, Biologics Clinical Manufacturing, Biologics Cell Bank Manufacturing, Biologics Development and Laboratory operations, CAR-T (Cell Therapy) Manufacturing.
- Ensure effective uninterrupted support of Facilities operational activities for BMS Devens.
- Review and analyze system data and develop recommendations for maintenance changes, upgrades, replacements, etc.
- Maintain up-to-date and complete system documentation in a central resource location for all repairs or changes to the system.
- Monitor the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions, and make recommendations to management on the corrective action as required.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all base building and critical HVAC system equipment.
- Conduct immediate clean-up of work area, returning tools to workshop, and unused supplies to store room.
- Report any equipment problems, impending supply or material shortages to the Operations Manager.
- Operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder up to 28', carry tools, lift and carry heavy loads, operate required equipment, and operate a motor vehicle.
- Work in close places such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc., and work on roofs of buildings.
- Maintain tools and order supplies as required for installation and repairs.
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School diploma, state equivalent, or GED equivalent.
- 2+ years of related trade schooling or equivalent, preferred.
- Boiler License or EPA certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
- Familiar with computer equipment and programs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder up to 28’, carry tools, lift and carry heavy loads, operate required equipment, and operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to work in close places such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc.
- Ability to work on roofs of buildings – able to safely perform overhead work while standing on a ladder.
- Demonstrated ability to manage across functional lines and deliver results in a matrix organization.
