HVAC Service Technician - Journeyman
About the role
This field-based role is the primary service and maintenance contact for Trane Technologies customers in a defined market with a diverse commercial base, including Healthcare, Process Manufacturing Facilities, Education Institutions, and Office Complexes. You will commission, troubleshoot, repair, and start up HVAC systems in a commercial environment, utilizing your knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts. This position offers the opportunity to work with internal and external partners on new facility setups and existing facility retrofits, directly for a leading manufacturer with access to technical support, training on the newest technology, and comprehensive career paths for growth.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates with team leader/project manager and customer to understand requirements for on-site installation and repairs by forecasting issues, gathering materials, and synchronizing on-site work.
- Serves as the direct customer contact, representing the company and ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, diagnosing, and repairing equipment and systems at the customer’s location.
- Uses cutting-edge software, technology, and hand-tools to diagnose and repair units, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
- Maintains flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required, including occasional overnight stays.
- Enforces safety standards and maintains security and accountability of company-issued and procured assets by recording use, wear, and conditions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with typically 5+ years of experience in HVAC; technical school or formal training preferred.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and proficiency with handheld devices (e.g., Smartphone, iPad).
- Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations (e.g., DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving) or multiple smaller infractions/preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
- EPA Certification.
Pay
Hourly base pay range: $28.96 - $43.85. Compensation is tailored to factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation. This role is incentive and sales commission ineligible.
