HVAC Repair Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair residential HVAC equipment, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, thermostats, and indoor air quality systems.
  • Perform warranty service calls in accordance with manufacturer and company guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and airflow-related issues.
  • Conduct system inspections and preventive maintenance services.
  • Complete warranty documentation, service reports, and parts requests accurately and promptly.
  • Communicate findings and repair recommendations to homeowners in a professional manner.
  • Verify proper system operation after repairs and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain service vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory.
  • Follow all safety procedures, EPA regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with dispatchers, warranty administrators, manufacturers, and management to resolve service issues efficiently.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and emergency service coverage as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • An HVAC certification or technical school training is preferred.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification is required.
  • A minimum of 2–5 years of residential HVAC service experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC diagnostic procedures, refrigeration systems, electrical troubleshooting, and airflow principles is necessary.
  • The ability to read wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and manufacturer specifications is important.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls is crucial.

Work Environment

  • Works in field environments across residential job sites, climbing ladders and navigating uneven surfaces.
  • Regularly works in confined spaces and moves materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Operates hand and power tools and vehicles.
  • Must be able to see, hear, and exchange accurate information with customers and team members.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather, noise, and dust.
