Standard Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm. MUST be willing to be flexible as jobs may change.

Position Summary

The HVAC Project Superintendent will oversee the day-to-day activities of a single project, coordinate with internal and external partners, and ensure the quality, production, and safety of the multi-family residential project.

Position Responsibilities

  • Read plans, specifications, and construction documents to determine the scope of work, material requirements, equipment locations, and installation requirements.
  • Supervise and provide directions to installation crews, field employees, punch mechanics, and subcontractors.
  • Serves as the competent person on site for safety, production, leadership, and the client’s point of contact.
  • Identify required tools, materials, and equipment necessary for crews to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required operational, production, and safety documentation, including JHAs, inspections, progress reports, and as-built drawings.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, project managers, inspectors, and other trade partners to ensure project schedules, specifications, and code requirements are met.
  • Coincide and prioritize work activities to support production schedules, inspections, and project deadlines.
  • Inspect work for quality, completeness, code compliance, and timeliness, and make recommendations for corrective action as needed.
  • Walk job sites daily to monitor progress, address deficiencies, and ensure work is progressing according to schedule.
  • Address safety violations, quality concerns, and other jobsite deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites, including proper material storage and debris removal.
  • Provide on-site direction and leadership to field personnel and subcontractors.
  • Manage jobsite materials, including takeoffs, ordering, receiving, inventory control, storage, and distribution.
  • Be dependable, accountable, and consistent in all aspects of job performance and project supervision.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with employees, customers, contractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders.
  • Able to self-direct individual and team efforts to align with project priorities and deadlines.
  • Willing and able to follow all instructed safety regulations and company policies.
  • Able to arrive at work on time, work the designated schedule, and be available as project conditions require.
  • Maintain reliable transportation capable of traveling to jobsites and transporting tools and materials as needed.
  • Provide learning and development opportunities through coaching, performance management, and mentoring.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

HVAC Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop schedules to meet production demands and support the successful completion of inspections in assigned communities.
  • Coordinate and schedule the work activities of PCIs and installation crews, including communicating work assignments and project priorities.
  • Forecast material and equipment needs to ensure crews have the necessary resources available on the jobsite.
  • Coincide and oversee punch work and corrective work activities to ensure projects progress toward inspection approval and completion.
  • Ensure equipment locations, duct layouts, duct sizing, and refrigerant line set installations are completed according to plans, specifications, code requirements, and general contractor expectations.
  • Balance workloads between communities and projects to ensure production schedules and inspection timelines are achieved.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, project managers, zoning officials, and inspectors to ensure HVAC systems comply with applicable specifications, codes, and regulations

Qualifications

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required: Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in the HVAC trade.
  • Required: Minimum 8 years of installation experience in the HVAC trade.
  • Required: Thorough understanding of HVAC installation practices, industry standards, and applicable code requirements.
  • Required: Thorough understanding of residential and commercial new construction processes, including sequencing and timing of inspections and quality control procedures.
  • Required: Ability to effectively supervise, coordinate, train, mentor, and develop field personnel, installation crews, subcontractors, and punch mechanics.
  • Required: Ability to identify problems quickly and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Required: Ability to oversee and coordinate multiple people, projects, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Required: Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Required: Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and project quality standards.
  • HVAC Required: Ability to read, understand, and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, duct layouts, equipment installation instructions, and related construction documents.
  • Electrical Required: Strong understanding of the electrical construction industry, including troubleshooting and identifying faults in electrical systems.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
  • Must be able to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
