About the role

CBRE is seeking Commercial HVAC Engineers who can support multiple retail and commercial banking facilities in the Kalamazoo area. The ideal candidate will perform maintenance, repair, and installation tasks on buildings' HVAC/R systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, adjust, service, and maintain electrical, steam, and chilled water systems used for building HVAC/R systems and equipment, including calibration of related instruments, gauges, and control components.
  • Inspect and conduct ongoing maintenance on building HVAC equipment to ensure accurate operation of equipment and compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and work safety.
  • Fix equipment failures and identify the best course of action for equipment modifications.
  • Mentor others and share in-depth knowledge of own job subject area and broad knowledge of several job fields within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.
  • Work to build consensus and convince others to reach an agreement.
  • Impact a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams.
  • Work within broad guidelines and policies.
  • Lead BMS routines to supervise, adjust, and tackle building operations.
  • Diagnose and repair self-contained refrigeration equipment such as 4°C, -20°C, and -80°C units.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma, GED, or trade school diploma and 4-5 years of job-related experience in HVAC/R systems.
  • Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Physical requirements including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Organizational skills with a sophisticated inquisitive attitude.

Qualifications

Highly skilled in commercial HVAC systems, with a strong background in troubleshooting and problem-solving. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
