Job Summary Provide detailed and accurate estimates to support preconstruction, special projects, and other opportunities. As a primary risk manager during procurement, identify challenges and opportunities in sheetmetal and pipefitting scope, systems, and layout. Essential Job Function Project estimatesPrepare mechanical cost estimates for construction projectsConsult with clients, vendors, and MTech personnel in various departments to discuss, review, and formulate project scope and estimatesAnalyze blueprints, one-line schematics, specifications, construction drawings, and other documentation to prepare material, equipment, sub, and labor costsCollaborate with pre-construction personnel, engineers, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients on scope development and modifications throughout all phases of the projectFill-in design intent for conceptual and schematic level documents and estimate accordinglyCompare quotes and select equipment and subcontractor packages to provide best value as determined by procurement method.Create spreadsheets for evaluation and comparison of scope and cost items of a projectTake a lead role in coordination with other trades on the project teamAttend project interviews to assist with the sales effort of a projectPerform site visits to understand scope and logisticsRegular and predictable attendance is expected to meet the requirements of this positionOther duties as assigned Qualifications Preferred 5-10 years of mechanical and/or plumbing experience with at least 5 years of estimating experienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredField/trade experience preferredProcess piping take-off experience preferredDesign / build estimating experience preferredQuickPen estimating system preferred, will consider other estimating program experienceStrong proficiency in Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office softwareExperience with fabrication EST MEP, 3D estimating softwareStrong interpersonal and decision-making skillsAbility to effectively communicate with people at different levels within the organizationDemonstrated ability to work in a team environment or independently, flexibility to adapt to changing needs/situationsStrong critical thinking and problem-solving abilityResource managementAttention to detailsAbility to conceptualize and fill-in design intentDemonstrated ability to track multiple projects at the same time, and to work under pressure, often to tight deadlines and with a minimum of supervision About MTech MTech Mechanical is a full-service mechanical contractor delivering HVAC, plumbing, fabrication, and design-build solutions for complex commercial and industrial projects.
