HVAC Mechanic
About the role
Perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of building heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and controls. Perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration equipment to include, chillers, freezers, refrigerators, coolers, etc. Confer with supervisor/s regarding all aspects of assigned duties and communicate with University campus partners all aspects of requests. Access information utilizing computers. Promote a workplace culture that encourages safety within the shop and in the field. Operate a University vehicle to transport materials, tools, and equipment. May be required to operate an aerial lift.
Responsibilities
- High School diploma, Vermont Natural Gas Installer Certification or ability to acquire within six months and three years’ experience in HVAC equipment and controls installation, maintenance and repair required.
- Refrigerant Recovery Certification required.
- Experience using computers and mobile technology required.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain and driver’s check required.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (or Equivalent Combination Of Education And Experience): High School diploma, Vermont Natural Gas Installer Certification or ability to acquire within six months and three years’ experience in HVAC equipment and controls installation, maintenance and repair required. Refrigerant Recovery Certification required. Experience using computers and mobile technology required. Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain and driver’s check required. Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing specific job functions.

Pay
Anticipated Pay Range: $31.00-$37.00/hour
Schedule
Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check and physical screening. Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime).
Benefits
This position is ineligible for telework due to the essential functions.
Special Conditions
- A probationary period may be required.
- A post-offer pre-employment (POPE test) physical examination is required.
