HVAC Mechanic

Installation, Service, Troubleshooting, and Repairs

• Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair chiller, air handling units, controls, package units, split systems, exhaust fans, refrigerators, freezers, hot/chilled water pumps
• Involvement in Sites predictive maintenance program
• Install, maintain, and repair refrigeration and air conditioning systems
• Operate and adjust refrigeration units, humidifiers, heaters, air cleaners, and circulating pumps
• Check systems for optimal performance and determine needed repairs
• Inspect and evaluate equipment to identify needed repairs
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical and pneumatic systems associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
• Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times
• Stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary
• Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
• Occasional exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals

Required Skills/Abilities

• Read blueprints, sketches, and specifications pertaining to air conditioning and refrigeration systems
• Follow oral instructions
• Use shop mathematics
• Lay out work
• Broad trade knowledge of mechanical principals on standard shop methods of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade
• Experience and/or certification in one or more predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, infrared, ultrasound, etc.)
• High level of computer aptitude and knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Able to interpret and develop technical reports
• Able to operate testing equipment for the systems
• Able to use all tools and equipment necessary to this trade
• Able to follow standard methods and procedures for the most part, but on occasion to have the ability and knowledge to perform the unusual and difficult operations
