Duties
- Install new HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, ventilation fans, and refrigeration equipment according to schematics and design specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems to ensure peak performance.
- Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design plans to accurately assemble and troubleshoot equipment.
- Conduct field service visits for troubleshooting issues related to air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical components.
- Use diagnostic tools to identify electrical faults and perform equipment repair or replacement as needed.
- Weld or use other mechanical skills to modify or repair HVAC components; operate equipment such as welding tools safely.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document all repairs for accountability and future reference.
- Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC systems and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Operate a vehicle responsibly for transportation between job sites while adhering to all traffic laws.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience with a focus on HVAC installation and repair.
- Service technician experience working with HVAC/R systems, refrigeration units, or appliance repair is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical knowledge including plumbing, boiler operation, welding skills, and equipment repair techniques.
- Ability to read schematics and HVAC design plans accurately; familiarity with electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters.
- Knowledge of property maintenance practices related to HVAC systems; experience with ammonia refrigeration is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical components like pumps, valves, ductwork installation, and welding processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues using diagnostic tools; experience in refrigeration or HVAC/R is advantageous.
