Performs maintenance, installation and repair work on HVAC systems, equipment and components.
Solves identified HVAC equipment problems and component conditions by submitting them to supervisor for directed resolution.
Reads and interprets schematic and construction drawings, service manuals, and other technical documents.
Communicates with supervisor and departmental/JHM staff.
Assimilates JHH/departmental mission, policies and procedures as well as specific job safety aspects.
Works in shop and mechanical area environments with exposure to dust, heat, cold, noise and fumes.
Works in confined spaces and in awkward positions.
Works at heights of up to 30 feet above surface using ladders, lifts and equipment.
Loads/unloads and transports/positions tools, equipment and materials & pushes/pulls loaded hand trucks weighing up to 75 pounds.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of 1 year (or current enrollment in) formal training in a state-approved Journey HVAC program at a vocational or technical school, college, or apprenticeship sponsor organization.
Fundamental/introductory knowledge of HVAC techniques, codes, procedures and materials.
Knowledge of safety rules, procedures and practices, including the proper use of safety equipment as defined by OSHA and industry standards.
Ability to solve problems and manage information indicated herein.
Proficient written and verbal English communication skills, at least on an high school graduate level, to interact with departmental/JHM staff.
Identifies and avoids hazards as indicated by warning labels, signage, lights and other warning devices.
