HVAC/Low Temp Refrigeration Technician
About the role
We are a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP); building automation; and industrial piping contractor. Our team offers a variety of MEP and process piping services, including design-build engineering for new construction and renovation, installation and specialty construction, maintenance, and air balancing, start-up, and energy efficiency services.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HVAC/Low Temp Refrigeration Technician to service, install, and repair HVAC, chiller, and refrigeration systems, including ultra-low temperature freezers and cascade refrigeration units, for both existing and new accounts. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on complex mechanical systems while ensuring safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong refrigeration background, excellent electrical and schematic reading skills, and familiarity with Building Management Systems and PC-based applications. Professionalism, clear communication, and the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences are essential.
Responsibilities
- Service, install, and repair assigned HVAC, Chiller, and Refrigeration equipment/duties on ultra low temp freezers and cascade refrigeration for existing and new accounts in an efficient and safe manner.
- Working knowledge of all mechanical systems including troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical HVAC equipment.
- Have working knowledge of PC's, application software, and Building Management Systems.
- Have working knowledge of electrical schematic reading.
- Perform chiller PMs, troubleshooting/repairs of freezers and cascade units.
- Maintain record of work performed and parts/materials used.
- Utilize company and vendor resources.
- Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld.
- Ability to follow schedules and budgets.
- Wear company uniform and required safety PPE, perform job hazard analysis.
- Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, verbal, and written communication.
- Interact with customer by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call.
- Be able to explain technical information effectively and professionally to technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
- Strong refrigeration background
- Minimum 5 years field experience
- Great customer service skills
- Good electrical skills
- Refrigeration troubleshooting skills
- Self-motivated team player
Language Skills
Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.
