HVAC Journeymen Mechanic (union)

About the role

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support its fast-growing HVAC business in North America. The position offers opportunities to work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with advanced equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers.
• Provide solutions and recommendations to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Write and communicate quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
• Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies and enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
• Work with other mechanics, apprentices, and servicemen to provide high-quality service to customers.

Requirements

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• Minimum of three (3) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing, and mechanical shaft alignment.
• Able to use vibration equipment and perform mechanical shaft alignment.
• Able to troubleshoot drivelines using vibration equipment.
• Travel may be required up to 20% to support branch customer activities, trouble-shooting, installation, and repair.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.

Skills

• Attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills.
• Universal EPA refrigerants license and applicable state or local licensing.
