About the role

The Heating and Air Conditioning Installation Instructor is responsible for teaching students the skills necessary to become entry-level technicians. The instructor should have expertise with installing, repairing, and maintaining both residential and light commercial applications. The instructor is responsible for course development, delivery, and assessment. The instructor will report directly to the Program Director.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands-on instruction in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of residential and light commercial forced air HVAC systems, including furnaces, air handlers, and split systems.
  • Demonstrate proper ductwork design and installation techniques, including measuring, cutting, assembling, sealing, and insulating ducts in accordance with industry standards.
  • Demonstrate proper pipefitting techniques, including measuring, cutting, threading, soldering, brazing, and assembling a variety of piping materials.
  • Teach students how to interpret blueprints, schematics, and load calculations for HVAC system layout and airflow optimization.
  • Emphasize industry best practices, safety standards, and code compliance throughout all instruction.
  • Enforce college policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain course materials, including lesson plans, lab activities, and assessments.
  • Evaluate student performance through both written and practical assessments.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized lab environment.
  • Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and training systems.
  • Promote the program and assist with the procurement of educational resources and equipment.
  • Participation in College activities and events.
  • Participate and be an active member in assigned campus committee(s).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

We are looking for someone to start this academic year, beginning at the end of August. The position will work from mid-August to mid-May. Qualifications

  • A minimum of an Associate's degree and/or 4-5 years of technical experience. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required for most positions.
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to teach, expertise in their program area, good managerial skills, knowledge of industry standards, assessment skills, organizational skills, and word-processing skills.
  • EPA 608 Type 1 & 2
