Position Overview
T.F. O’Brien Cooling & Heating is seeking an experienced HVAC Installation Inspector to support the installation department by ensuring all completed work meets company standards, manufacturer specifications, and local code requirements. The inspector will perform final inspections on residential HVAC installations before municipal inspections, identify deficiencies, ensure code compliance, and coordinate corrective work to help installations pass inspection successfully.
Responsibilities
- Perform final quality‑assurance inspections on completed HVAC installations.
- Represent the company during final job‑site inspections.
- Verify that all work is code‑compliant and ready for municipal inspection.
- Identify installation deficiencies, safety concerns, and workmanship issues.
- Perform or coordinate corrective work as needed to ensure installations pass inspections.
- Inspect and evaluate the following systems:
- Central air‑conditioning systems
- Boiler systems
- Furnaces
- Gas piping systems
- Venting and combustion‑air systems
- Electrical and low‑voltage connections
- Ductwork and airflow systems
- Ensure all installations meet manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.
- Collaborate with installation managers, field supervisors, and installation teams to resolve issues.
- Document inspection findings and communicate required corrections clearly and professionally.
- Support continuous‑improvement initiatives within the installation department.
- Maintain a professional attitude while interacting with customers, inspectors, and team members.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 + years of residential HVAC experience (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of AC systems, boiler systems, furnaces, gas piping, and residential HVAC codes and compliance standards.
- Experience preparing jobs for inspections (strongly preferred).
- Ability to identify and resolve installation issues independently.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
